So far we have been talking about traffic, but to make sure we are on the same page, let me just give you a quick primer on the subject.
First, there are basically two types of online traffic: free and paid. Although “free” might sound appealing it is really harder to get and maintain a consistent supply of this type of traffic. And, ironically, it can also end up costing you more than paid traffic.
For example, you may decide to write a lot of articles and publish them at different article directories. From that point onwards you’ll be getting free traffic from your “author’s box” link.
But just think of the time and effort in getting these articles published compared to paying for those clicks. So often, in terms of time and effort, “free” can be very expensive.
Now with paid traffic you have more control on how much and when the traffic is generated. You don’t have to wait on your articles to get noticed or move up in the search engine results rankings. Paid advertising is how you build a business that will bring you wealth.
Secondly, with paid traffic, there are two types, what’s called performance based and fixed cost. Performance based means that you are paying when there are measurable results, such as cost-per-click or cost-per-impression. This is what almost destroyed my business.
With fixed cost, you make a predetermined investment and optimize your ad for maximum response.

And by “quality” I mean the most responsive—these prospects are most likely to buy your product or service. So ultimately the quality of traffic is determined by how profitable the leads generated are to your business.
